I have worked in this field for over 43 years as a section 14(c )certificate holder and as an option for a lot
of people with the most significant disabilities it a lot of value.
I have also ran a community inter grated employment program side by side with it and that is the best of both worlds for people with disabilities.
Using both of these employment opportunities side by side gives that person the chance to use the program that best fits their needs over the history of their employment career.
Sometimes Community Integrated Employment is great choice and opportunity straight out of high school but it is not always successful for everyone and in that case they may need some time and employment in a CRP with commensurate wages and section 14c.
It is time to let the people with disabilities and their families choose waht the really need.
